Practicing English with strangers: what actually helps
A stranger will not slow down for you, will not correct your grammar, and will not wait while you assemble a sentence. That is precisely why it works — and precisely why it is uncomfortable.
Why a stranger is different from a lesson
A teacher adapts to you. They simplify, they wait, they rephrase when your face goes blank. That is what makes lessons effective for learning the language — and also what makes them a poor rehearsal for using it.
